The Gershwin Big Band

Join singer and bandleader Michael Andrew for an evening of iconic American music by the inimitable George Gershwin, whose music remains as fress and irresistible as it was during the Jazz Age. Backed by a 17 piece band, Andrew performs favorites from Broadway, Hollywood, opera, and the classic American songbook.
Years before Bert and Grace Porter resided at the stately brick Victorian, its original inhabitants, Dighton Ellsworth and his family, darkened its stairwells, and made merry there during holidays.
Visit the Porter House on Sunday afternoon on October 30 to see, hear, or sense for yourself if any early "Porter House Ghosties" still hide in the bell tower, or lurk in the basement. No tricks--just stories and treats for all who dare visit.
Regular admission fee ($7 adults; $5 seniors; $5 youth; children under 12 are free) includes both the museum tour and story experience; or just stop in for the story and leave an optional donation. All ages welcome.

Clarinetist-saxophonist Anat Cohen has won hearts and minds the world over with her expressive virtuosity and delightful stage presence. As "one of the brightest, most original young instrumentalists in jazz" (Washington Post). Cohen brings to the stage a soulful blend of modern and traditional jazz, classical music, Brazilian choro, Argentine tango, and Afro-Cuban styles.

Big Canoe Lutheran Church annual lutefisk and meatball supper is Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults, and $4 for children 6 to 12. Children under 6 eat for free. All sales are final; no refunds.
Menu includes: Lutefisk, Norwegian meatballs, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, rutabagas, rolls, lefsa, cranberry fluff salad and Norwegian cookies.

Porter House Open House!
The Porter House Museum's Christmas Open House will be held on Saturday, December 2rd between 1 and 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors will enjoy live music, refreshments, festive décor, and a special exhibit on butterflies collected by A.F. Porter in South America nearly a century ago. Fitting with the butterfly theme, the holiday decorations will have a unique, artistic twist. Featuring a live wreath auction!
