Iowa's Dairy Center is not only a working farm, but a tourism facility where you can learn about modern dairy farming. Please call to set-up tour arrangements.
On your tour you will see:
• Milking Parlor
• Robotic milking system
• Freestall Barn for housing of cows
• Transition Barn for calving (may see a calf being born)
• Calf Barn (pet a calf)
• Iowa's Dairy Museum (play the milk cart quiz)
• Make homemade ice cream (must be requested)
The unique dairy farm features a milking parlor system where 160 cows are milked three times daily, 4 a.m., Noon and 8 p.m. Also, since December of 2013 two robotic milking units were installed to milk the remaining 125 cows. The viewing platforms for these milking systems are open 24-hours a day. Stop by and see the cows getting milked anytime.
Students, community, organizations, and businesses can also enjoy the Dairy Center's 16,000 square of classrooms and meeting space. Various rooms are able to hold anywhere from 12-100 guests. The space includes science laboratories, a computer laboratory, classrooms, and new conference room with viewing of the robotic milking machines. At capacity, the largest meeting area can accommodate 100 guests. Catering is available. Call to schedule an event.
