A note from proprietors Liz and Daniel:
Welcome to Fern Hollow Cabin, a historic and original Norwegian log cabin in the lush woods of Northeast Iowa. Come alone, or come with friends or family.
The log house is filled with good energy from all the 156 years that people have lived here. It feels good to visit a place where the surfaces are brown, textured and storied. And it feels good to remember that even without a phone ringing or email calling, you still know how to enjoy the passing of time. Call it your sanctuary, playground, arts space, or hermitage. It's all of these, and whatever else you'd like it to be!
Fern Hollow has a spacious kitchen, living room and bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed an living room couch has a pull out bed, plus there's plenty of room for kids on the floor.
This is our great-great-great grandparents' cabin, built in 1853. We restored it in 1989, and it's really beautiful! It's run on solar electricity, and there are many other features of this place that will intrigue and delight those who are interested in sustainable living practices. We warmly invite you to come and stay for a day or more. Wrap yourself in the songs of the woods.
